Q: What are the fees for swimming lessons?
A: Fees are charged on a termly basis payable in advance. Fees vary according to the number of weeks in a school term. Please contact Sonia or Liz for the latest term's fees.
Q: What should my child wear in the pool?
A: There is no colour code for swim wear. However, boys should wear swimming trunks NOT shorts, girls should wear a swimming suit (preferably not frilly) and babies/non toilet trained children MUST wear a swim nappy. Otter's swim hats are provided upon enrollment.
Q: Does my child have to wear a swimming hat?
A: Yes, health and safety dictates that all children should wear a swimming hat in the water. A Castle Bromwich Otters swim hat is given to every child who joins a class.
Q: How long will it take for my child to learn to swim?
A: Every child learns at a different pace and due to the individual teaching approach of Castle Browmich Otters each child progresses at a rate suited to his or her ability.
Q: Will my child be able to achieve distance swimming awards?
A: Yes, distance swimming nights are arranged periodically to allow children to achieve distances to their full potential. Badges are awarded for 5 metres upwards.
Q: Will my child recieve a certificate even if they can't swim?
A: Yes, all children receive a certificate. The babies follow the starfish awards; there are Stanley awards for the older children. A full list of the awards and their criteria can be found by clicking here (opens new window).
Q: Can my child swim if they have a cochlear implant?
A: Yes, they can.
Q: Can my child swim if they are poorly?
A:The rules are similar to those of Nursery and School. Your child should not attend swimming with ear, eye or throat infections. They should not attend until 48 hours after diarrhoea or vomiting.
Q: What methods of payment do you accept?
A: You can pay your fees by cash or cheque made payable to "Castle Bromwich Otters" or BACS transfer can be accepted by prior arrangement.
Q: If my child misses a lesson can I get a refund?
A: We do not offer refunds but such requests will be considered on a case by case basis.
Q: Will I get a refund if you cancel a lesson?
A: If we have to cancel a lesson an alternative date or venue will be arranged. We do not offer cash refunds.
Q: Can I watch my child swim?
A: Yes, it is possible for you to watch your child's swimming lesson. But we do politely request that there is a limit of one parent/carer per child in the pool. There is limited seating available at poolside. Should your child need the toilet during a lesson it will be your responsibility to take them to the changing rooms and return them to the pool in a timely fashion.
Q: Can I take photos of my child swimming?
A: Photographs may be taken with prior permission of all parents/carers with children in the lesson.
